Latinas in Coffee Scholarship Fund

We are very grateful to have met Giselle Barrera earlier this year. Giselle is the founder of Latinas in Coffee, a social impact movement on social media. Her goal is to connect, support, and feature women from Latin America working in the coffee industry—to ultimately empower women and create stronger community networks together.

She recently launched an incredible project called the Latinas in Coffee Scholarship Fund in order to break down the still-present barriers women face when accessing education. We’re honored to collaborate with Giselle and Latinas in Coffee in sharing this scholarship fund with the industry at large!

The fund is designed to help women invest in themselves in any way they choose in order to gain more traction in their professional journeys, improve their businesses, find more meaning and power in their work, and so much more. Many studies show that investing in women’s education is the same as investing in an entire region, as women are more likely to pay it forward and share the intellectual and economic wealth within their communities.

Here’s how the scholarship will work:

Each Scholar will receive a $400 scholarship to pay for expenses related to a course she wants to take to further her knowledge in the coffee industry. They can select the course of their choice about roasting, cupping, processing, and/or any topic that is related to their professional development in coffee.

The requirements to apply to be a scholar are:

a) To identify as a Latina woman

b) To live in an origin country and work in activities related to coffee production

c) To have experience in community work (volunteering, etc.)

If you’d like to donate to this fund and encourage others around you to do the same, you can do that through the Latinas in Coffee Donorbox page.

We plan to open applications to scholars in January 2023. Thank you in advance for your support!
